British Columbia Chapter of IAPSRS (International Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services)
The British Columbia Chapter of IAPSRS was formed in 1992 with several purposes based on assisting persons with a psychiatric disability to live successfully in the communities throughout British Columbia. province.
Though a new organization, the chapter has sponsored two local conferences, publishes a quarterly newsletter, has quarterly "free" educational series as well as some special training programs.
International Association
The International Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation was formed in 1975 to bring together programs and agencies, mental health practitioners, policy makers, families and consumers to strengthen and improve the quality of community based psychosocial rehabilitation services throughout the world.
* It fosters public policy discussions on mental health service development * It provides Education and Training for practitioners, families, consumers * It organizes a major annual conference at locations throughout North America. * It publishes the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal as a forum for research and critical thought. * It has set up a code of ethics and a Registry of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Practitioners.

Beyond Boundaries - 1997 International Conference comes to Vancouver
Mark the week of June 9th to 13th on your Calendars as the 22nd International Conference of IAPSRS comes for the first time to Vancouver. Well over 1500 people will be attending from all corners of the world to discuss, debate, learn and otherwise push the boundaries of knowledge and practice in Psychosocial Rehabilitation.
The Conference will have over 40 one or two day pre-conference Institutes, 144 Workshops as well as forums on special topics.
A rich array of social events will allow the visitor to explore the cosmopolitan nature of Vancouver and get a taste of what's available in the province.
